What Is an Alkaline Ionizer and How Does It Work?
An alkaline ioniser first filters mains water, then ionises it through electrolysis. Both stages matter: a filter alone does not change the pH of the water, and an additive that only raises pH leaves the chlorine, heavy metals and microbiological load exactly where they were.
Singer units run water through seven stages: sediment, GAC carbon, granular carbon, RO membrane, post carbon, ALK+ alkaline and vitamin B12. This chain removes chlorine, heavy metals, bacteria and viruses at 99.9% while retaining calcium, magnesium and potassium.
In the final stage the water passes through an electrolysis cell, which separates the stream into alkaline and acidic fractions. The alkaline fraction you drink carries dissolved molecular hydrogen, and that is what gives the water its negative ORP.
Independent Laboratory Measurements
Accredited measurement rather than a brochure figure: water sampled from a Singer unit was analysed by ARTEK Environmental Laboratory, accredited by TÜRKAK to TS EN ISO/IEC 17025.
| Measurement | Tap water (typical) | Reverse osmosis (typical) | Singer (accredited) |
|---|---|---|---|
| pH | ~7 (variable) | 6–7 (acidic) | 9.5 |
| ORP | +200 / +400 mV | +100 / +300 mV | −252 mV |
| Minerals (Ca, Mg, K) | Variable | Removed | Retained and re-introduced |
| Chlorine / heavy metal removal | None | High | 99.9% |
| Daily capacity | — | Model dependent | ~295 litres |
Why Certification Matters
In the water treatment market, meets NSF standards and NSF certified are not the same claim. The first is the manufacturer saying so. The second means an independent body tested the product and issued a certificate.
- NSF 42 — chlorine, taste and odour reduction
- NSF 53 — health-effect contaminants such as lead, chromium and cysts
- NSF 58 — reverse osmosis system performance
- NSF 372 — lead-free material compliance
- NSF 401 — pharmaceutical residues and emerging contaminants
- WQA Gold Seal and CE marking
Singer is the first NSF-certified alkaline ioniser manufacturer in Turkey. Certificate numbers and scopes are listed on the Your Water Is Safe with Singer page.
Which Model Suits You?
The Gold, Black and Platinum series use identical filtration and ionisation technology. Their technical performance is the same. The difference is entirely in the design.
Gold Series
Champagne-gold detailing and a warm surface tone, at home in kitchens built around wood and natural stone. For anyone who wants the unit on display. See the Gold series.
Black Series
A matte black body and minimalist lines that recede in modern, dark-toned or built-in kitchens. See the Black series.
Platinum Series
A platinum-grey body with a soft matte finish, sitting comfortably in light, grey or steel-toned kitchens. For anyone looking for a neutral middle ground between the warmth of Gold and the darkness of Black. See the Platinum series.
If you would rather not give up counter space, look at the ionizer water dispensers. If you want to replace your existing tap, see the 3-way luxury faucet.
Installation, Maintenance and Warranty
Installation is carried out by an authorised technician and takes about an hour; a no-drill faucet option is available. Filters are replaced every six to twelve months depending on usage and local water hardness. The device is covered by a lifetime warranty.
If you do not know the hardness, chlorine and conductivity of your own supply, measure it before deciding. You can request a free water test — our team measures what comes out of your tap and shows you the results.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does drinking alkaline water change blood pH?
No. Blood pH is held between 7.35 and 7.45 by the lungs and kidneys, and it stays there regardless of what you drink. The value of alkaline water is that it is better everyday drinking water — not that it treats any condition.
I already have reverse osmosis. Do I need an ioniser?
Reverse osmosis removes calcium, magnesium and potassium along with the contaminants, and its output is usually mildly acidic. In the Singer system the RO membrane is one link in the chain: the ALK+ stage that follows re-introduces minerals, and electrolysis changes the pH and ORP.
Can I use alkaline water for cooking and brewing tea?
Yes. Removing chlorine noticeably changes the aroma of tea and coffee — it is one of the first differences people report. For preparing infant formula, please consult your doctor.
Can I change the filters myself?
Filter changes are carried out by an authorised technician. This is not only a warranty matter: the membrane and electrolysis cell need to be flushed correctly afterwards, and the system needs a leak check.
How much water does the device produce?
Around 295 litres a day, which comfortably covers drinking, cooking and hot drinks for a household of four.
